Following recent engagement with the Minister for Justice, I am pleased to announce that I have today made all the appointments necessary to permit the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal (the Tribunal) perform the role and functions assigned to it under the Legal Services Regulation Act 2015 (the Act).
In particular, in accordance with section 75 of the Act, I have appointed the 21 lay members nominated by the Minister for membership of the Tribunal, as I have the 6 nominees of the Bar Council and the 6 nominees of the Law Society.
I am also pleased to advise that I have appointed Mr. Tom Coughlan, one of the lay members nominated by the Minister for membership, to be the Chairperson of the Tribunal.
I take this opportunity of welcoming the newly appointed members and wish them well in the important work which they are about to undertake.
